Why Do i need to hire a contractor

How do i pick Colors

Color is a matter of taste, however, there are two rules we like to recommend. 1) There are two schools of thought when it comes to selecting the right color of paint for the exterior of your home. One is that you own your home and the land beneath it, so you should have the right to choose any color exterior paint you want. Also pick colors which are best suited for your style of home. 2) The second school of thought is that color choices for exterior paint should be compared against the existing schemes of other homes in your area. You don't have to match your next-door neighbor's home shade for shade, but be aware of unspoken community standards before investing in paint. And also since dark colors tend to fade faster than light and mid tone colors, we suggest you keep these to a minimum. Dark colors are best as accent tones on shutters, doors, etc. The exterior color schemes of most homes are generally more conservative than interior color schemes. Some may choose to coordinate the exterior color with the interior, but this isn't strictly necessary. As long as the transition from exterior to interior is not too jarring, the exact color scheme doesn't have to match. Consider the color of the first room guests will enter for some ideas on an exterior color that won't clash.

I'm getting a few different estimates from various contractors for having my house painted and am a little confused as to why the prices vary so much for the same job?

his topic could easily cover several pages and become quite lengthy, but the simple answer is that not all contractors do the same quality of job. If you were to have your vehicle painted you would discover prices ranging from $99.99 to several thousands of dollars. Home painting is quite similar. There are multiple levels of quality and services available; however, sometimes it's difficult to know exactly the quality of work you will be receiving. Assuming all of your estimates are from honest reputable licensed and insured contractors, the major difference in prices may often be directly associated to the amount of surface preparation your painter will complete prior to the paint being applied. Surface preparation, when done properly is very detailed and consumes a lot of time and work which can at times take as much as 75% of the time needed for the entire job. Since much of this "prep" work gets covered up once the surface is painted, this is the area where many painters can and will cut corners. It is simple math to understand that if painters can cut the amount of time spent on your job, they can offer you a lower price. If you are dealing with a painter which you know nothing about, make sure you get a detailed list in writing of what he is going to do for you rather than making your decision based on a price written on the back of a business card

How often should you have to paint the exterior?

Many factors can contribute to that. 1. The quality of the paint used is of the utmost importance. 2. The amount of nearby trees and shrubbery and whether or not you have an automatic sprinkler system that keeps the house or nearby greenery constantly damp or moist.. 3. Window unit air conditioners are a major source of rotted window sills and peeling paint around the window frames and siding below. There are too many factors to take into consideration here, and each home can be different. However a good quality job done by a professional crew under normal conditions should last anywhere from 5-8 years. Call us and we will be happy to evaluate your particular situation and offer you a more precise answer
